Apple Releases Emergency iOS Update to Patch Critical Image File Exploit

Apple has urgently rolled out iOS 18.6.2 to address a high-severity vulnerability in its Image I/O framework, tracked as CVE-2025-43300. The flaw allowed maliciously crafted images to trigger memory corruption and potential remote code execution. The company confirmed the exploit was Leveraged in "extremely sophisticated attacks" targeting specific individuals.

The unscheduled patch extends to all iPhones since 2018, including the latest iPhone 16 series, and covers iPad Pro, Air, and mini models from recent generations. Parallel security updates were issued for macOS Sequoia, Sonoma, and Ventura. Apple maintains its standard protocol of withholding technical details until fixes are deployed.
